Welcome Spring

Yesterday, March 20th, was the first day of spring; the season when the snow melts and the rains nourish the forest.  Two weeks ago we had the fireplace going non-stop and were enjoying the winter wonderland, but last night we slept peacefully to the sound of rain on the roof.  What a blessing to wake up to wet warmer weather and lush green hills.
The winter started out dry.  We had the driest December on record and to tell the truth, winter was looking a little bit like a dud.  It wasn't though, it was just a little slow getting out of the gate.  February and early March gave us a good supply of snow and China Peak even opened up for skiers!  Now it is spring and mother nature is delivering on her promise - yay!  When we got up this morning everything was wet and green and when I stepped out onto the back deck...well, see for yourself:

The siren song of the rushing creek drew me in so I donned the old rubber boots and took a walk into the backyard...

Well at least I know where the dog will be playing today

Even the Manzanita seem happy that it is spring! I think it is time to get out the gardening gloves.
