February on Peterson

This month we have seen more snow that we have seen for a long time.  It is such a blessing to know that the high country is brimming with snow reserves for the valley farmers, the trees are happy and the lakes will be full all summer!  In the meantime, we get to enjoy all the beauty associated with mother nature’s gift.  Typically we will get a half dozen or so isolated snowstorms on Peterson each season.  The snow falls, it is beautiful, but then it quickly melts and in three days you almost cannot see any evidence it was there.  This month however, we got four fairly significant storms in a row.  Total snowfall at the house for the storms was about three and a half feet.  Of that, about a foot has been sticking around for the better part of the month.  No complaints here, the wood stove is cozy and warm, the roads are completely clear, and the scenery is breathtaking.  Here's a brief glimpse into life on Peterson this February…

The ride home from church on Sunday right after the first of the four storms.  These guys turned and trotted down the road in front of Crane’s Roost as if to say, “follow us, your place is right up here.”

We stopped on Peterson right before the Rodriguez’ house to grab this pic.  This is the neighborhood!  It is, in our opinion, one of the best kept secrets in CA.

At the corner of Cripe Road and Peterson Road, right before our house there is a creek that runs under Peterson and down Cripe.  Our dog has been enjoying the snow as much as anyone.

The horses across the street don’t seem to be minding the snow either.

After taking a long walk we made it back home, coming up on the house from the backside.

Shortly thereafter, as darkness began to creep in, we retreated to the warmth of the living room and a quiet evening.

Goodnight 😘
