Peterson Road

The western slope of the central Sierra Nevada mountains is well known for its spectacular natural beauty, and Peterson Road in Pine Ridge is the quintessential representative.  Peterson Road is a little over four miles of unspoiled, rural America.  At the entrance to Peterson Road sits Mountain Rest Fire Station of the USFS - Sierra National Forest.  Much of the land on and around Peterson Road is federal national forest land. Each home along the county maintained, paved road is unique - no standard models no neighborhoods.  Most homes are on several acres and difficult to see from the street.

Beauty is obvious as you turn onto Peterson and are covered by a canopy of green.  There are several mountain creeks that run along and across Peterson as well as amazing granite vistas. As you travel Peterson, relax and enjoy the scenery - traffic is definitely not an issue.
It is quite common to see wild turkey, mountain quail, red tail hawks, gray squirrels and deer.  You won’t always see them but owls, eagles, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions and the occasional black bear make Peterson home as well.  There are patches of mountain blackberries along the road just waiting to be picked when in season, and the wildflowers are simply amazing in the spring.  In the fall, the oak and aspen put on a dramatic show of color and on chilly winter mornings the Manzanita shine as if they are lit up against the sparking diamonds of the crisp snow.
Come see for yourself!! 😀
